The challenge
Northwind's 800-driver delivery fleet was running on paper manifests and a 20-year-old SMS system. Lost packages were tracked in spreadsheets; dispatchers couldn't see where vehicles were.
Customer complaints had climbed 18% year-over-year for two years running. The board had given the COO one quarter to fix it.
What we built
Native iOS and Android apps for drivers, built around an offline-first sync model so the app keeps working through dead zones. A web dashboard for dispatchers with a live map, route optimisation, and one-click reassignment.
Push notifications for arrivals and exceptions. Hardware integration with handheld scanners through native modules. End-to-end deployed on AWS with a Postgres source-of-truth and Redis for the real-time channels.
