Project Bedrock
An internal developer platform that took new-service provisioning from two weeks to twelve minutes.
The challenge
Kepler's 140 engineers shipped services through a chain of tickets — DevOps for infrastructure, SRE for monitoring, Security for review, Networking for routes. Standing up a new service took two weeks of human handoffs.
Engineers had started copying-and-pasting working services to avoid the process. Every workaround was a small security incident waiting to happen.
What we built
A Backstage-based internal developer platform with golden-path templates, self-service infrastructure via Terraform modules, automated security scans, and one-click service creation. Pick a template, name it, click create. Twelve minutes later it's running in staging with monitoring, logging, and CI/CD wired up.
We worked alongside Kepler's platform team for six months and trained four of their engineers as platform maintainers. The platform lives with them now and gets a new template roughly every two weeks.
